40+ Years of Experience
Our surgeons have more than thirty five years of combined surgical experience. That experience includes:
- More than 5,000 gallbladder operations completed either laparoscopically or robotically assisted.
- Approximately 5,000 hernia repairs performed using an open, laparoscopic or robotic approach.
- Approximately 100 new breast cancer patients managed annually by our surgeons as part of a nationally accredited breast cancer program.
Martin & Woodyard Surgery is the only surgery practice in the Middle Georgia market that offers a nationally accredited breast ultrasound program for the evaluation and diagnosis of breast masses and cancers. This accreditation was attained through the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
These years of experience and volume of cases is how quality surgical care is developed and delivered with utmost skill and level of expertise. We are the local experts in many surgical diseases, including breast disease and cancer; gallbladder disease and gallstones; minimally invasive surgery with both laparoscopic and robotic approaches for colon cancer, gallbladder disease and diverticulitis; as well as hernia repairs of all types.
Advanced Surgical Techniques
Our surgeons use advanced surgical techniques on a daily basis to offer state-of-the-art surgical care to our patients. This includes advanced laparoscopic and robotic techniques for gallbladder, colon and hernia surgeries.
We perform office procedures on a daily basis, including the ultrasound-guided breast cyst aspiration and ultrasound-guided core needle biopsy (CNB) of breast masses and cancer with clip and marker placement. These are all done with the newest ultrasound equipment available through GE ultrasound and biopsy needles and markers from Bard Medical. We offer a vacuum needle technique under local anesthesia to remove benign breast lesions with ultrasound guidance through a needle puncture, which results in minimal pain, fast recovery and essentially no scar.
We are involved with two nationally accredited cancer programs: the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) and the The Commission on Cancer (CoC), a program of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS). The standards required by these organizations and met by our surgeons ensure that you receive state-of-the-art and cutting edge treatments for breast cancer, colon cancer and all other cancers that we treat surgically.
Less Pain, Faster Recovery
As small business owners, we understand the value of having a rapid and full recovery from any surgical procedure. All of our techniques and approaches to surgical care are tailored to each patient’s needs to allow for the fastest and most complete recovery possible. This helps to minimize postoperative pain and complications and allows for a full return to work and leisure activities as quickly as possible.
Shorter hospital stays, faster return to work, and lower complication rates lead to savings for you and your employer and lower costs of healthcare overall.
